Alcoholism Treatment

Alcoholism treatment must be customized to fit the individual needs of the person who suffers from this disease. Every woman who enters the alcoholism treatment program at the Women's Treatment Center for Healthy Living is unique. Each has different needs and responds to therapy in different ways.

Women's Alcoholism Treatment and Individual Psychotherapy

At Lakeview's Women's Treatment Center for Healthy Living, we incorporate individual psychotherapy into our alcoholism treatments. During these intensive sessions, you will meet with your primary therapist to discuss any personal issues as they relate to your alcoholism recovery. This private session is the perfect solution for women who are hesitant to share in a group setting. This approach is imperative for addressing certain issues in the early stages of women's alcoholism treatment.

Group Therapy Within Alcoholism Treatment Programs

Alcoholism patients respond greatly to group therapy. It has proven to be extremely beneficial in the process of recovery. Individuals generally feel more comfortable when they hear another patient share stories about a life history that parallels their own. The types of group therapies we utilize in our alcoholism treatment programs include:

  • Groups process therapy
  • Experiential therapy
  • Trauma resolution
  • Expressive therapy
  • Self esteem building

The Women's Treatment Center for Healthy Living understands that not everyone will benefit or be emotionally ready to participate in a particular clinical activity. We will work at your pace and every once in a while provide you with a gentle nudge. In alcoholism treatment, we look for progress, not perfection.

Dual Diagnosis Alcoholism Treatment

It is not unusual for women to enter our alcoholism treatment rehab in need of dual diagnosis treatment. Dual diagnosis is the presence of two co-existing disorders such as alcoholism and depression. Many of the women seeking help in our alcoholism treatment rehab suffer from an eating disorder, sexual abuse, domestic violence or a chemical imbalance resulting in a psychiatric disorder. Our approach to dual diagnosis treatment is to treat both disorders concurrently. To that end, each woman is seen by our board-certified psychiatrist to rule out or assist us in treating this complex, but all too common condition.

Alcoholism Treatment and Family Recovery

All of the rehabilitation centers and programs provided by Lakeview Health Systems, including the Women's Treatment Center for Healthy Living, are committed to helping the family heal from the effects of alcoholism. Our experience has shown us that almost every woman admitted into our alcoholism treatment center has developed significant issues within their family system. To support and enhance family recovery, we provide a dynamic three day Family Recovery Program for the entire family. The aim of the Family Recovery Program is to help restore a sense of trust, honesty, forgiveness and healing within the family. Understanding alcoholism, treatment and the recovery process goes a long way towards the family supporting their loved one in their journey to sobriety.
