Intervention May Come First

Entering an alcohol abuse program is usually voluntary. Although we know that our loved ones need help, they are often resistant. The Women's Center for Healthy Living will work with an interventionist and the family in an effort to make the admission to our women's alcohol abuse center as easy as possible. Through a well-orchestrated intervention, the alcoholic will be shown just how important it is for them to get alcohol abuse treatment before it's too late.

Alcohol Abuse Programs and Alcohol Addiction Treatment

There is a difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction. The individual with a diagnosis of alcohol abuse is still able to set limits with their drinking and has not yet developed a tolerance for alcohol or a physical dependence. The person with an alcohol addiction has developed a dependence on alcohol and continues to drink despite negative consequences. There is however a commonality between the two: harm to the human body and consequences associated with drinking. Despite the differences, both can be treated in the same alcohol abuse treatment program.
